What a percentile means
A percentile describes relative position, not the percentage of questions answered correctly. An estimated 84th percentile means the score is higher than about 84 out of 100 people in the comparison population used by that test.
Why professional results include uncertainty
No assessment measures perfectly. Attention, language, environment, item sampling and chance create uncertainty. Formal interpretation considers confidence intervals, testing conditions and the full pattern of subtest results.
How to read an online IQ result

- Look for a clear explanation of the questions and scoring.
- Confirm that the site does not claim clinical or official status without evidence.
